Support for the Cook Inlet Stream Temperature Monitoring Network which will help Inlet Keeper to promote community-based science on a watershed and regional geographic scale to ensure a better understanding of the impacts of climate change on wild salmon and build local grassroots support to address the most immediate threats facing salmon in Alaska and beyond. EARTHWATCH $ 20,000
Maynard, MA
A grant of $ 20,000 per year for three years in support of "Live From the Field" program Live From the Field brings field experience directly to the classroom as teachers participate in an expedition at a remote field site. Earthwatch provides the technology necessary to enable communication between the teachers and students on a daily basis. This allows the teachers to share questions, answers, to celebrate new discoveries together and to broaden horizons from thousands of miles away. (2010)


GIFFORD PINCHOT TASK FORCE $ 25,000
Portland, Oregon
Support for the Gifford Pinchot National Forest Collaborative Restoration Project which focuses on working with collaborative restoration groups in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest to plan restoration projects including road removal to benefit clean water, fish and wildlife. (2010)


INSTITUTE FOR LOCAL SELF RELIANCE $ 15,000
Washington, D.C.
Continued support for the Waste to Wealth Program. This program seeks to convert wastes from environmental and economic liabilities to valuable resources that provide community development opportunities. (2010)


INSTITUTES FOR JOURNALISM & NATURAL RESOURCES $ 25,000
Missoula, Montana
Continued support for a specialized expedition-style training program in New Mexico and southern Colorado. Funds are to be used to cover cost of planning and conducting the Native American components of the Energy Country expedition. (2010)


LEWIS AND CLARK LAW SCHOOL for PACIFIC ENVIRONMENTAL ADVOCACY CENTER $ 20,000
Portland, Oregon
Continued support of PEAC's ongoing work to improve water quality across Oregon and establish legal precedents that benefit similar efforts throughout the West. (2010)


NAPA COUNTY REGIONAL PARK & OPEN SPACE DISTRICT $ 50,000
Napa, California
A grant to aid in constructing the first public outdoor environmental education camp in Napa County, Camp Berryessa will be designed to be an environmentally and financially sustainable, energy and carbon emissions-neutral facility. (2010)


PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP INSTITUTE $ 20,000
Boston, MA
Support for "Building Capacity for Product Stewardship" the concept that producers are responsible for their products throughout their entire life cycle. The grant will aid in education and outreach, product-by-product legislation and policy, product stewardship through a framework approach and measurement and evaluation of programs. (2010)


POINT REYES BIRD OBSERVATORY $ 30,000
Petaluma, California
A two year grant, $30,000 each year, to help protect breeding colonies of seabirds seals, and sea lions and to apply PRBO's science to guide marine wildlife conservation along the west coast. (2010)


PUGET SOUNDKEEPER ALLIANCE $ 15,000
Seattle, Washington
General operating support to aid Puget Soundkeeper Alliance in its mission to protect and preserve Puget Sound by tracking down and stopping the discharge of toxic pollutants into the water of the sound. (2010)


SONOMA LAND TRUST $37,500
Santa Rosa, California
Funds to aid in the constuction of the Sonoma Baylands Center. The center will establish a gateway to the Sonoma Baylands, which offers a diversity of public recreation and education to include hiking, biking, bird watching, fishing, cultural resources interpretation and volunteer stewardship activites. WESTERN ENVIRONMENTAL LAW CENTER for MONTANA SMART GROWTH COALITION $ 25,000
Helena, Montana
A grant in support of work to protect the health of forests, fisheries and ecosystems in Montana by promoting state and local policies that will guide future development into and around existing cities and towns while protecting wildlife travel corridors, habitats and waters. (2010)


WESTERN RIVERS CONSERVANCY $ 25,000
Portland, Oregon
General support to aid in the purchase and to help permanently protect dozens of river miles and more than 90,000 acres of land in Washington, Oregon and Northern California. (2010)

Continued support for Dr. Sunil Hingorani's research to aid in the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of pancreas cancer. The grant is for $300,000 payble over three years. (2010)


JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION $ 75,000
New York, New York
A three year grant in the amount of $75,000 per year in support of JDRF's Artifical Pancreas Project. (2010)


BOWERS MUSEUM $ 20,000
Santa Ana, California
A grant for continued support of program costs for the Teen Arts Council, a part of the Bowers After School Learning Center. The After School Learning Center empowers Santa Ana's low-income children and youth to reach the long-term goal of living sustainable, rewarding and responsible lives. (2010)
